TRADE GUIDANCE

A clearer brief makes a better first conversation.

Use this practical checklist to describe an enquiry and identify what should be agreed before a transaction moves forward. These are general considerations, not a verification service or a guarantee of supply.

01

Describe the commercial request

State whether you are buying or selling, name the product, define its grade or technical requirements, and provide a realistic quantity, delivery window and destination.

02

Agree the terms that shape the deal

Discuss the delivery location and Incoterms rule, packing, inspection scope, documentation, payment milestones and each party's responsibilities. Write the agreed terms into the contract.

03

Check the counterparty and documents independently

Confirm the legal identity and authority of the people and entities involved using reliable, independent channels. Check that documents are authentic, current and tied to the actual product, parties and shipment.

04

Keep control of decisions and funds

Do not rely on forwarded messages or unverified account changes. Have your own legal, banking and trade advisers review material documents and payment instructions before committing funds.
